Network and Systems Administration
We serve as the IT department for several organizations, providing them with advice, help desk support, maintenance, and security. We have techs in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles/Orange County area. We support all common operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
We are getting ready to roll out new online services, such as network backups and hosted e-mail. Our network backup service is being designed as a cost- and time- effective way to keep copies of data off-site for access in case of a disaster. Our hosted e-mail service will allow our customers to have the full experience of something as powerful as Microsoft Exchange/Outlook through a Web browser, as well as being able to run their favorite e-mail programs like Thunderbird or Mail.app. We also provide safe and effective spam and virus filtering.
Programming, Web, E-Commerce, and Database Services
We develop in several programming languages, but lately mostly in Ruby, especially using the Ruby on Rails framework. We also work with PHP applications like WordPress (which is running this site) and Python, including the Plone content management system. We develop Web sites, Web-accessible database programs (such as a membership database), and programs to help make common tasks easier. Specialties include setting up retail Web sites and content management systems that enable your staff to update the site without needing to know HTML or CSS.
Automation, Project Management, and Process Streamlining
As organizations grow, workers often find themselves doing the same things over and over again. Many of these repetive tasks, such as managing returns, back orders, or contacting the membership, can be made easier with automation. We can help document the processes in place now, offer suggestions for improvement (which may or may not involve a computer program), and provide tools to make things easier.
Phones and VoIP
Until recently, organizations wanting a full-featured PBX had to pay large amounts of money for proprietary systems. With recent advances like voice over IP (VoIP) and open source PBX software, a great PBX can be built for a fraction of the cost. We work with the Asterisk open source PBX, which offers features like conference calls, VoIP (often used to lower phone bills), call statistics, integration with customer relationship management systems like SugarCRM, and call queues (ACD). Also, with VoIP, you can have remote offices (including home offices) on the same phone system as everyone else!
